Things are getting heated in the workroom!

The Emmy Award-winning competition series Project Runway is pulling out all the stops for season 20. The new season is unlike any other as it's the first time fourteen previous contestants are returning to the competition. With plenty of twists and surprises in store, this monumental season is one fans won't want to miss.

Nina García, Brandon Maxwell, and Elaine Welteroth are returning to the judges' table as they put the returnees up to the most challenging tasks yet.

"This was an opportunity to see all of our fan favorites, our judges' favorites, and do it all again. When you have creatives and designers that have opinions, there's always going to be a little drama. Come on. It's fashion. It comes with the business," García says.

"Fans are in store for the best season yet. The competition is fiercer than it's ever been. We have some actual icons who are back with a vengeance to prove themselves. It was really such a joy to film this season," Welteroth adds.

With the 20th season premiering in the heart of Pride Month, the judges are so thrilled the new season ofProject Runway will continue showcasing excellent LGBTQ+ representation in mainstream media.

"On this season, you will see our first nonbinary designer who has gone through a major transformation in their life that has translated into their work on the runway. You get to see nonbinary fashion that is super inspiring, super wearable, and high fashion," Welteroth says.

"For me, to see somebody like myself on TV, meant a great deal and I think it still does to a lot people. This show has always celebrated diversity and creativity. I'm really so proud to be a part of it," Maxwell adds.

The first all-star season is also bringing a ton of star power with plenty of A-list celebrities guest judging the designers, including Alicia Silverstone, Julia Fox, Billy Porter, Law Roach, and so many more.

"I think that they bring something so fresh to the show. What's cool about this season is that a lot of the guest judges were fans of some of these designers. They watched them years ago. That was really cute to see that mutual respect and admiration for each other's work," Welteroth concludes.
