Despite being snubbed at all of the major ceremonies this past awards season, Todd Haynes' Carol was recently voted #1 of the 30 Best LGBT Films of All Time in a recent poll conducted by the British Film Institute.
The diverse list includes other memorable, queer-centric films such as Tangerine, Death in Venice, Pariah and Andrew Haigh's Weekend, which took the #2 spot and has been making news recently for being condemned by the Vatican.
But Carol managed to top them all. For fans still mourning the snubs of awards season, this win supports the sentiment that the film has more resonance than any single ceremony.
"I fell in love with it at first sight," writes Emma Smart in BFI's announcement.
Carol is now available on DVD and streaming online, so you can fall in love with the masterpiece over and over again.
