The film studio behind Love, Simon, one of our favorite (and queerest) movies to come out in the past few years, is officially shutting down.
According to a report by Variety, Fox 2000 Pictures, a label of 20th Century Fox, is shutting down following the Walt Disney Company’s "$71.3 billion acquisition of much of 21st Century Fox’s film and television assets."
Fox 2000 was notable for releasing a diverse range of titles, the likes of which included Love, Simon, Hidden Figures, The Hate U Give, The Devil Wears Prada, The Fault in Our Stars, and a whole bunch of other fan favorite films.
While Variety is also reporting "Disney is committed to completing the Fox 2000 films currently in production," we can't help but feel a little sad that a company that gave so many viewers such diverse films is going under. Hopefully, representation is still a part of the new Disney-Fox giant's mission...
