Give us the butts.

What a relief!

As previously reported, rumors were swirling that Paramount was pressuring the director and producer of the upcoming Elton John biopic Rocketman to remove the film’s gay sex scene, which is said to show bare butts.

Fortunately, director Dexter Fletcher spoke out about the issue on Twitter:

“Seeing much speculation about ROCKETMAN!! That’s good! It’s still unfinished so it’s nothing but rumors. It has and always will be the no holds barred, musical fantasy that Paramount and producers passionately support and believe in.”

Reading between the lines, it sounds like that means we can still expect the scene to show up in the final cut of the film. At the very least, it seems to mean that Paramount isn’t pressuring the filmmakers to give Rocketman the Bohemian Rhapsody treatment.

Sources for The Hollywood Reporter also claim the film will retain the sex scene, and is expected to receive an R rating.

However, THR also says that “filmmakers and Paramount are in discussions about the love scene,” but suggests that may not specifically relate to the LGBTQ content, as it also includes cursing and drug use.

Hopefully this all means we can breathe a sigh of relief as we await the final film, which is set to hit theaters on May 31st. Bring on the gay!
