This is more interesting than coating your logo in rainbows, at least.

And the award for strangest Pride month advertisement goes to…Burger King!

The fast food joint put out a commercial this week featuring a gay Eastern European couple getting sent to Germany so they could get married legally, something reportedly not allowed where they live.

But the real kicker is where they got their diamond engagement rings — from a Whopper melted down into ashes.

The ad shows clips of the process of turning their signature food item into a future-heirloom, as well as moments of the couple getting ready for their big day, including eating at a Burger King, of course.

“Guests are free to choose how they enjoy their Whopper in any country — whether with onions or an extra portion of cheese, the choice is theirs,” said director of marketing at Burger King Deutschland, Klaus Schmäing. “Together with Dima and Alvar, we would now like to show that every person should have the opportunity to freely decide. Especially when it comes to love.”

Burger King is also said to be giving a donation to the Lesbian and Gay Federation in Germany, as well as sponsoring a Pride parade in Cologne next month and bringing the rainbow celebration to the people by handing out rainbow crowns in their Berlin stores.

The diamond-out-of-a-Whopper is a pointed gimmick, for sure, but one that at least stands out as doing a little bit of good during a month where companies are often quick to change their logos to rainbows and slow to do much else to help the LGBTQ community.

And for Dima and Alvar, it’s definitely a Pride they won’t forget.
