Orville Peck is having quite the month. The gay country singer showed a bunch of skin on the cover of Playgirl, is releasing a new album, and is now making waves by divulging a spicy secret about an NFL player.
A new song from the mask-wearing singer’s new album hints at a make-out session with a player on the Las Vegas Raiders.
“I love the Lakers, the Mets and the Longhorns, made out with a guy on the Raiders,” Peck sings in the new song “Ring the Bell.”
The 38-year-old singer opened up about the lyrics in a new interview with Variety, where he said that while he isn’t going to reveal the mystery man’s identity, the pro athlete was “thrilled” to be included.
“I’m going to preface this by saying that I did receive permission to sing that lyric from the subject in question and he was very thrilled,” Peck said. “I told him, ‘Look, I’m gonna keep it sort of ambiguous and mysterious, but I would like to include this in this song.’”
Peck said the Raiders player was “very, very honored” to be included, but as for who the player is, Peck isn’t saying.
“I would never have done it if it were somebody who was hiding or fearful of it coming out,” Peck explained. "This person would have probably allowed me to say their name if I wanted, but I didn’t think it was necessary.”
That hasn’t stopped people, including Variety, from guessing that it might be former Raiders player Carl Nassib, who became the first NFL player to come out while on an active roster in 2021.
“People can use their own common sense and discovery to try to figure out who it may be, but that’s all I’ll say.”
