Ruth Bader Ginsburg, better known as Notorious RBG (thanks to Tumblr) is making news today because she married a gay couple in Washington, D.C.
She officiated the wedding Sunday of Michael Kahn, the artistic director of the Shakespeare Theater Company, and Charles Mitchem, who works at an architecture firm, reports TheNew York Times.
This isn't the first time Supreme Court Justice Ginsburg has officiated a same-sex wedding, but the timing of it is noteworthy, given that the Supreme Court recently heard a case on marriage equality and will issue a ruling this summer that could result in the freedom to marry nationwide.
It seems clear now how Ginsburg feels about this issue, if it wasn't already when she made this comment earlier this year:
\u201c10 Times Women OWNED Yesterday's #SCOTUS Hearing on Marriage http://t.co/0c179O1m7c #NotoriousRBG FTW! #LoveMustWin\u201d— SheWired (@SheWired) 1430347446
Could this mean that Ruth Bader Ginsburg is winking toward how SCOTUS will decide on marriage equality? May we see more headlines of Ginsburg presiding over more weddings as the "belle of the same-sex ball" (as the Times calls her) in the future?
