Our 'OITNB' Faves Samira Wiley and Lauren Morelli Got Engaged and It's Adorable
Poussey actress Samira Wiley and Orange Is the New Black writer/producer Lauren Morelli have officially (and preciously) announced their engagement on Instagram.
Orange Is the New Black isn't just a hotbed of romance onscreen, as it turns out. In 2014, OITNB writer Lauren Morelli penned an essay for Mic announcing that the show had helped her realize she was gay. She also announced she intended to divorce her husband of a few months and had fallen in love with an actress whom we soon found out was Samira Wiley, also known as fan favorite Poussey. Cut to two years later, and the two have certainly come long way. Lauren's now also a producer on the show and (spoilers), as most of us know, Samira's character met her end following when her highly controversial death that brought the fourth season to a dramatic close. Even though we may still be seething about that, we were incredibly happy to see both ladies announce their engagement via Instagram today in a sweet, simple, and heartwarming post:
Samira's photo was captioned "Yes," while Lauren posted the same photo accompanied by "❤️." We couldn't be more thrilled for these two, whose real-life love story is genuinely inspiring. For those of us who want more of Samira in our lives sans actually marrying her, she's recently been featured on FX's You're the Worst, and she'll also be a regular on Hulu's upcoming series, The Handmaiden's Tale. Orange Is the New Black may have broken our hearts this year, but we're thrilled to see these two get their happy ending!
