We all know that RuPaul's Drag RaceAll Starsloves a good twist! But while season 4 is certainly bringing the drama (along with plenty of gag-worthy moments), some fans think the lip sync for your legacy format is getting a bit...stale.
Since the winning queens of the week lip sync to send one of their competitors home, they already know they're safe and don't fight quite as hard as when it's their head on the chopping block. The high-stakes threat of elimination is one of the reasons why Alyssa Edwards and Tatianna's "Shut Up and Drive" lip-sync from All Stars 2 is so damn iconic.
So how do we bring the drama back to the All Star lip syncs?
Reddit user Lumen posted a suggestion in r/rupaulsdragrace yesterday that could change everything...
"So, with the recent episode's twist (not gonna say to avoid spoilers), I've been thinking: 'What if the lipstick format was changed a bit?'
So, my suggestion would be to have Ru choose only one winner each week, giving them 10,000$. Then she also chooses a bottom 3. The queens go into deliberation, and after that, the winner picks one lipstick TO SAVE one queen, while the other two lip sync for their lives.
This would have a few advantages:
1)It would be more consistant in bottom placements (no arbitrary bottom 2 then bottom 3 the following week)
2)It would push alliances.
3)It would also cause even more drama, because the one queen that survived the lip sync would be pissed because she wasn't saved by the winner of the week.
Thoughts?
Personally, I'm fully on board. As one Redditor points out, the queens would have more motivation to form alliances. We get the deliberation drama with the high stakes, and most importantly, we would hopefully never have another BenDeLeCreme or Shangela situation on our hands...
