The Queer Eye gang is mourning one of their own — Bruley, the French bulldog who appeared throughout seasons three and four of the show, passed away this week.
“Bru had been suffering from heart problems, and an instant heart attack was a possibility,” his owner and Queer Eye producer Michelle Silva shared in an emotional post on Instagram. “It all happened so fast, but I held him as he took his last breath, and I was able to tell him I loved him the very most.”
The beloved pup joined the cast when the show began filming in Kansas City. Silva began bringing him to work and he and the cast just clicked, so he became an unofficial member of the crew.
“You brought joy to so many with your jump kisses, grunts and even your farts,” wrote Bobby Berk. “You were the best little sidekick we could have had.”
“Each time we returned to our loft in Kansas City you were always there to greet us and that brought us so much joy. We hope you have an endless supply of treats to munch on,” said a message from the official Queer Eye Twitter.
And the love the Queer Eye cast and fans had for Bruley was shared by many who knew him in real life, according to his mom.
“Over the course of 16 episodes of @queereye, in just a few moments on screen, you guys all got a glimpse of the Bru I knew and loved. He was hilarious, stubborn, sometimes inappropriate, and always a sucker for a snack. He was pure love.”
Silva has said she was almost finished making a website with Bruley-themed merchandise that Queer Eye fans had been clamoring for before he died. Now, the project is on hold as she mourns the loss of her beloved furry friend.
“I’ll get there in time,” she wrote.
