Loyal Law & Order: SVU stans, you're eyes do not deceive you: Christopher Meloni really is reprising the iconic role of Detective Elliot Stabler! And as if that wasn't good enough news, the reason he's returning is because he's getting his very own spin-off series!!!
According to a report from Variety, NBC has just ordered 13-episodes of a Stabler-focused series from Law & Order creator and exec. producer Dick Wolf, with Meloni set to star in the main, titular role. The show, which will follow the popular detective as he leads the NYPD's organized crime division, marks the first time in nine years that Meloni will be portraying the character that many fans all over the world associate him with. He had previously left SVU in 2011 after negotiations between NBC about his pay broke down.
In his time away from the Law & Order universe, Meloni has been a part of a diverse spectrum of film and TV projects, including White Bird in a Blizzard, The Handmaid's Tale, Harley Quinn, and on Ryan Murphy's groundbreaking trans-inclusive FX series Pose where he played Elektra's sugar daddy.
But as expected, stans were absolutely ecstatic to hear of Daddy Detective Stabler's epic return to the small screen!
No word on yet on when this new Stabler series is set to premiere, but hopefully, considering fans have been waiting ages for his Law & Order comeback, it won't be long!
