Model, actor, and activist Nyle DiMarco's upcoming Netflix series will highlight the real lives of deaf people.

"I’m excited to finally announce my Netflix series as an executive producer, with you all," DiMarco wrote on Twitter. "Deaf U is a coming-of-age documentary series following a tight-knit group of deaf students at Gallaudet University, a renowned private college for the deaf and hard of hearing, in D.C."

Peeks of the upcoming series appear in Netflix's "Celebrate Disability" campaign, advertising shows that highlight stories of people living with disabilities, including Deaf U.

DiMarco describes the shows as a reality series. "As the group of friends navigate the high, lows, and hookups of college life together, their stories offer an unprecedented, unfiltered, and often unexpected look inside the deaf community."

Deaf U premieres October 9 on Netflix. Catch moments in the trailer below!
