Expect the unexpected!
Every summer, 16 contestants enter the Big Brother house in the hopes of outplaying their way to the very end. To win this reality competition, a houseguest must strategize, play a great social game, do well in tough competitions, and have a little bit of luck on their side as well.
After 22 seasons with a grand prize of $500,000, this cash prize was finally raised to $750,000 last year. As a result, Big Brother 23 winner Xavier Prather not only became the first-ever Black contestant to win the show, but he also became the first BB winner ever to take home $750,000. An equally impressive feat for Prather was that he won the season unanimously – something that had only been achieved twice in the history of the show. Viewers were also in awe of Prather’s all-Black alliance called the Cookout, which took all six of its members to the final six of the competition.
Altogether, Big Brother 24 has some very big shoes to fill in comparison to the dynamic gameplay featured on BB23 and the diverse cast that made it really far into the season. So far, a general takeaway of the BB24 contestants is that this is, on average, a slightly older cast than the one seen in season 23. Moreover, season 24 has three houseguests who have openly discussed their LGBTQ+ identities so far: Matt Turner (bisexual), Michael Bruner (gay), and Nicole Layog (lesbian).
