Melissa Etheridge and Tammy Lynn Michaels are turning up the heat in the war that has become their break-up. The two lesbian (former) lovebirds are about to take the battle inside the courtroom.

TMZ managed to get legal documents (view the document) which outline the battles caused by the end of their nine-year relationship that produced twins.

The documents state that Melissa and Tammy are butting heads over child custody, visitation, child support, spousal support, division of property and attorney’s fees. As though that list wasn’t long enough, they are also fighting about whether or not they were actually married.

Tammy claims they were in fact married (which would mean she is entitled to a variety of financial benefits), but Melissa claims that their vows were just a commitment ceremony that was non-binding.
