Oscar nominee Elisabeth Shue will succeed Marg Helgenberger as the female lead opposite Ted Danson on CBS’s CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, according to Deadline.

CBS has reportedly been trying to woo Shue for some time now as she was offered the lead in The Good Wife -- a role for which Julianna Margulies has earned a Golden Globe and an Emmy -- but turned it down to spend time with her kids.

Shue will play the newest CSI just back from a stint in anger management courses, reports Deadline.

The actress became famous in the late 80s with Adventures in Babysitting and went on to become a bit of a Hollywood ‘it’ girl in the 90s, earning an Academy Award nomination for playing a prostitute in Leaving Las Vegas. She fell into a bit of obscurity in the early 2000s until she resurfaced to ironically play herself in the hilarious Hamlet 2.

As for Helgenberger, Deadline reports that she’s leaving the series in January 2012 but she’ll be back for a few guest spots.

Shue is slated to make her first appearance on Feb. 15, 2012.
