Guiding Light alumna Crystal Chappell has really become the go-to gal for playing lesbian on daytime now that it’s been announced that she’ll join the cast of The Bold and the Beautiful playing – wait for it – a lesbian!

Chappell, a fan favorite for portraying Olivia, who fell in love with Natalia (Jessica Leccia) on Guiding Light,  joins The Bold and the Beautiful as Danielle, the other mother of Caroline Spencer (Linsey Godfrey). Danielle was in a relationship with Caroline’s mother Karen (Joanna Johnson), as Entertainment Weekly explains it. Chappell’s episodes are slated to air in mid-May, according to EW.

A veteran daytime star, Chappell starred on Days of our Lives and One Life to Live before her turn on Guiding Light in the sensitive same-sex pairing that launched the mash-up “Otalia.”

Following Guiding Light’s cancellation in 2009 Chappell co-created the web series Venice,  in which she plays a lesbian interior designer. The series has run for three seasons and costars her Guiding Light on-screen love interest Leccia.
