Shiri Appleby to play lesbian EMT's ex-girlfriend on 'Chicago Fire'

The former star of Roswell, ER and Life Unexpected is finalizing a deal to play Clarice, the ex-girlfriend of EMT Leslie Shay, played by Lauren German.

Lesbians, fire and drama will make a recipe for disaster when EMT Leslie Shay’s ex-girlfriend comes to stir things up on the set of NBC’s new firefighter drama Chicago Fire.

Shiri Appleby will play Clarice, who has apparently gotten over her relationship with Lauren German’s Shay, and is now pregnant and married to a rich husband, according to Deadline.

It’s a recurring role for Appleby – the star of Roswell, ER and Life Unexpected – so be sure to expect some lesbian ex-girlfriend drama rocking the Windy City. (If you want to see more of Appleby this season, she’s also been picked up for a recurring role on the second season of HBO’s Girls.)

Produced by Dick Wolf, creator of the Law & Order franchise, the series promises some heated action both on duty and off.

In the trailer, Shay rebuffs the new hunk on the squad with a sassy quip, “Are you gay? Because I am.”

The pilot will premiere on NBC on Oct. 10. In the meantime, check out the trailer below:
