Watch: Ellen DeGeneres Thanks Madonna for Support During her Very Public Coming Out

Madonna guest stars on The Ellen DeGeneres Show today and beyond donning cone-shaped bras like it’s 1991 all over again Ellen offers words of thanks to Madonna for supporting her back in 1997 when Ellen came out as a lesbian on her sitcom and in life.

Ellen tells viewers that prior to he famous “Yep, I’m Gay” moment it had been rumored that she would be coming out, but Madonna, whom Ellen says she hadn’t met at that point,  reached out to her with words of encouragement essentially telling her essentially, “I’m behind you, I’m with you, I support you.”

“It meant the world to me,” Ellen tells Madonna.
