WATCH: Sarah Shahi Comes Out of the Closet for GLAAD - Literally

Sarah Shahi comes out of the closet! Gasp, breathe, pick yourself up off the carpet. While the woman who won over lesbian audiences playing Carmen de la Pica Morales on The L Word does literally come out of a closet in this Brett Ratner-directed PSA for GLAAD, she comes out as an ally. Many LGBTs may have realized nine years ago that Sarah is an ally, but it may not be as obvious to all of her many fans of the Fairly Legal and Chicago Fire sort, so good for Sarah for putting it out there in no uncertain terms.

Sarah’s video premiered on AfterEllen today, but you can watch other GLAAD PSAs featuring Pauley Perrette, Giada de Laurentiis, Jamie King, Kristen Johnston, Tamala Jones and Jackie Chan.

The PSAs will be broadcast into the living rooms of millionas of Americans thanks to Comcast and NBCUniversal, which will serve as leading media partners for the PSA campaign, according to a release from GLAAD.  The media giants will contribute $1.5 million in national airtime on Xfinity TV cable systems and bring this important message to more than 20 million homes over the next year, according to GLAAD.

"Our straight allies are essential participants on the road to full acceptance of the LGBT community," said GLAAD's Wilson Cruz in a release. "From athletes to faith leaders to elected officials across the political spectrum, straight Americans are speaking out for equality at a rapid rate and we hope more across the nation will be inspired to take action in support of LGBT people."
