Kelly Clarkson Skewers Music Industry Values with 'Wash, Rinse, Repeat'

Kelly Clarkson's latest single is called "Wash, Rinse, Repeat."  This is not a concept lost on Kelly.  In fact, it's the whole point behind the controversial new tune "Wash, Rinse, Repeat," in which Kelly skewers the music machine that favors churning out hackneyed pop melodies over originality. Thank you Ryan Tedder. Regardless of the circumstances surrounding "Already Gone" and "Halo", Kelly Clarkson just might have a hit on her hands with "Wash, Rinse, Repeat".  Look for Kelly on the road this summer touring with Lilith Fair 2010.

Kelly Clarkson's latest single is called "Wash, Rinse, Repeat" and it will have you repeating the melody in your head over and over and over and over...you get the idea.  This is not a concept lost on Kelly.  In fact, it's the whole point behind the controversial new tune "Wash, Rinse, Repeat," in which Kelly skewers the music machine that favors churning out hackneyed pop melodies over originality.

News broke last year when Kelly released her hit song "Already Gone," and it sounded a lot like another very popular tune also on the radio at the same time (Beyonce's "Halo").  Okay, that happens sometimes with music, right?  We hear a song that we really like and it reminds us of another song we once really also liked. Right. Unless there happens to be a common writer [Ryan Tedder] involved in the mini-scandal.  Go figure. Besides the normal press surrounding the release, Kelly was also taking heat for the fraternal twin songs, and she appears to get some lyrical revenge with her new single.

Take a look at the music video for "Wash, Rinse, Repeat" with lyrics here:

In an interview with the CBC , Kelly stated, "It was all fine and dandy. I'd never heard of a song called "Halo." Her album came out when my album was already being printed. No one's gonna be sittin' at home, thinking, 'Man, Ryan Tedder gave Beyonce and Kelly the same track to write to.' No, they're just gonna be saying she ripped someone off. I called Ryan and said, 'I don't understand. Why would you do that?'"

Regardless of the circumstances surrounding "Already Gone" and "Halo", Kelly Clarkson just might have a hit on her hands with "Wash, Rinse, Repeat".  Look for Kelly on the road this summer touring with Lilith Fair 2010.
