Singer Janelle Monáe talked to Rolling Stone about rumors she’s a lesbian, but stopped short of confirming or denying much of anything.
“The lesbian community has tried to claim me,” she tells the magazine. “But I only date androids. Nothing like an android — they don’t cheat on you.”
Monáe also talked with the magazine about her traditionally masculine wardrobe — “I call it my ‘uniform.’” — and said she hopes it inspires other women to follow in her footsteps.
“I’m trying to open doors for girls who look like myself and have been told they can’t sing about this or that.”
