News Report Calls Troye Sivan a Pete Davidson Lookalike, Fans Outraged

Ariana Grande's 'Mean Girls' reference in 'thank u, next' totally went over 'Inside Edition's' head.

During a segment on the harrassment Pete Davidson has received since his break up with Ariana Grande, celebrity news program Inside Edition mistakenly called "Dance To This" singer Troye Sivan a "Pete Davidson lookalike."

Last week, millions watched the premiere of "thank u, next," Grande's homage to teen rom-coms and past relationships. In the video, Grande channels Mean Girls' Regina George and shoves Sivan into a locker. The pop star smiles as she walks away.

Inside Edition reported on the video, looping in Pete Davidson's plea to online bullies who had been harassing him since the break-up with Grande. But the reporter, who clearly has no idea who Troye Sivan is,  thought Grande was shoving an impersonator of her ex-fiance.

"Ariana sings, 'Even almost got married and for Pete I'm so thankful,'" says the reporter. "But it appears that she shoves a Pete Davidson lookalike, then she literally closes the book on their relationship."

Twitter thought the clip was hysterical:

Someone over at Inside Edition needs a pop culture refresher. Alexa, play "My My My!" by Troye Sivan!
