Chris Appleton is currently promoting the release of his memoir, Your Roots Don't Define You, which is scheduled to drop in early 2026. As part of the promo cycle, the celebrity hairstylist shared the book cover on TikTok. After the post was shared, a Reddit thread in the r/popculturechat subreddit (which has over six million followers) accused the celebrity hairstylist of using fake bots to boost engagement on his social posts.

Reddit users in this thread — with 3,000 upvotes as of this writing — accused Appleton of having a comments section with various responses allegedly generated by "bots." To be clear: There is no way for anyone to verify those accusations, as these could have been genuine comments from fans of the celebrity hairstylist, and/or spam accounts. The latter is very common across social networks.
