Gloria Gaynor Washing Her Hands to 'I Will Survive' Is Giving Us Life
A light amidst the chaos.
Most of us have probably picked out our favorite song to hit that 20 seconds of hand washing recommended by the CDC to kill off coronavirus before it can infect us by now. Singing “Happy Birthday” twice just grates on a person's nerves, and so many better options have been put forth.
But if you haven’t chosen anything yet, music icon Gloria Gaynor has a suggestion to help you survive these trying times.
The living legend posted a video to her social media earlier this week showing how she washes her hands — to the chorus of “I Will Survive,” naturally.
The video, originally posted to Gaynor’s TikTok, comes at a time when hand washing tutorials and challenges are sweeping the social media platform, both entertaining and educating people so that we all wash our damn hands for more than two seconds.
As phenomenal as the effort to encourage everyone to stay safe and protect themselves from catching COVID-19 is, literally anytime a celebrity posts a video of them lip syncing to their own song is pretty amazing.
So next time you go to wash your hands (and be sure to keep washing your hands), think of Gloria. You’ll survive.
