SOPHIE, beloved pop music producer and pioneer, died earlier this morning from an accidental fall.
The boundary-pushing Scottish popstar was reportedly moongazing in Athens. "True to her spirituality she had climbed up to watch the full moon and accidentally slipped and fell," her team wrote in a statement. "She will always be here with us. The family thank everyone for their love and support and request privacy at this devastating time."
In her eight-year career, SOPHIE worked with Madonna, Charli XCX, Vince Staples, Camila Cabello, and many more. She has been credited with spearheading the hyper-pop movement that's the common sound with many of our favorite artists today. Her 2018 album, Oil of Every Pearl’s Un-Insides, was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album.
SOPHIE came out as transgender in 2018.
