Zendaya Wants to Bring a ‘Love Story About Two Black Girls’ to Life

"I would love a coming-of-age story where awkward and funny things happen."

With Spider-Man: No Way Home on the horizon, star Zendaya is already looking to the future.

The Emmy-winning actor and activist shared a project she wants to see in the world; "a simple love story about two Black girls."

She expressed the desire in a new interview with Teen Vogue, where she brainstorms her next moves in the industry. Though she doesn't "necessarily have a plan," she shared to her Euphoria co-star Coleman Domingo that she'd like to direct and has a desire to bring this idea to life.

"I don’t want it to be rooted in anything other than just a story about two people falling in love and that’s it," she explained. "Something simple and beautiful, that leaves you happy and wanting to fall in love yourself. I haven’t seen that without it dealing more with the traumatic side of things — which is really important to talk about, but I would love a coming-of-age story where awkward and funny things happen, just like when any other young person is trying to figure out who they are."

It's unclear if Zendaya wants to produce the story or act in it, or if it would be a television show or film, but we're okay with anything she decides because we're sure it'd be amazing. She already plays a queer teen on HBO's Euphoria, but we'd love to watch her bring this story to life as well!
