On his 21st birthday, Jaden Smith opened the I Love You food truck to distribute vegan food to the homeless population living on Skid Row in downtown Los Angeles.
Two years later, after serving thousands of people in both LA and NYC, Smith is expanding the venture. He's reportedly ready to open up an I Love You restaurant.
“It’s for homeless people to get free food,” Smith told Variety.
People who have the means to pay for their food will be expected to chip in a bit more. “If you’re not homeless, not only do you have to pay, but you have to pay for more than the food’s worth so that you can pay for the person behind you.”
The restaurant will likely follow in the steps of the food truck, boasting a purely vegan menu.
Smith has been an avid philanthropist in his short lifetime. The 22-year-leads 501CTHREE.org’s Water Box project to provide clean water access to communities. He also owns Just Water, who helped install water filtration systems in Flint, Michigan.
