Wet sex isn’t always a good thing. An ocean, Jacuzzi, pool, or lake may sound appealing, but we found a few reasons to avoid having sex in a body of water ... even in paradise.

1. You could get water in your eyes

There's nothing sexy about being blinded ... especially with salt water.

2. Too moist is a thing

Any natural lubrication = gone

3. You can’t use lube

You can keep reapplying it, but it won't help. The lube will wash away and only pain will remain.

4. No friction

Friction is everything. It's what makes sex feel like ... well, sex.

5. Condoms are less likely to work

Water can wash away spermicide, which increases the likelihood of pregnancy and STDs. Heat (think: hot tubs) and chemicals (think: chlorine) break down condoms. You do the math.

6. It gets cold

While you're submerged, Jacuzzis are warm and soothing. But the moment you're body leaves the water, the chills take effect.

7. Falling down

Falling over while having sex is so embarrassing. Getting flipped onto your ass by a rogue wave while having sex is disastrous.

Next time someone wants to have sex in a body of water, you’ll know what to say.
