One week after coming out as bisexual on a podcast, Layla Taylor is teasing a new relationship with another woman with a video post on Instagram.

The ex-Mormon reality TV star appeared in a video that shows her holding hands with what People magazine called "the mystery woman," who is never seen and remains out of frame and off-camera throughout the post.

“‘You’re glowing recently’ thanks I’m dating a woman now,” wrote Taylor in text overlaid on the video. The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives cast member also reflected on her perspective of dating women who love women with the caption: “Chivalry isn’t dead it’s w the lesbians.”

Taylor revealed her sexual orientation on the June 29 episode of Jay Shetty’s podcast On Purpose.

“I'm gay and I'm bi and date women and men," said the Arizona native, as Out reported.

The mother of two said that she’s struggled with coming out publicly, even though she said she's known she's been attracted to women “since I was little.“ But Taylor said over the years, she didn't know what to do with that

"It’s just something that I honestly didn’t really know how to formally address for a long period of my life,” she told the host.

Taylor was a convert to the Church of Latter Day Saints, and did so when she was 16; she revealed she stepped away from the Mormon religion during season 4 of Mormon Wives because she conflicted with the church's racial history and doctrines.

According to the Human Rights Campaign, the official LDS position distinguishes between same-sex attraction and acting on it. Bisexual individuals can remain full participants and hold temple recommends, but only if they practice strict heterosexuality in their dating, marriage, and romantic lives. Engaging in same-sex relationships violates the law of chastity and can lead to church discipline.

Taylor has two sons — Oliver and Maxwell — with her ex, Clayton Wessel. They were married from 2020 to 2025, as People reported. Following the end of their marriage, Taylor started dating Mormon Wives costar Cameron Jolly, who appeared on the second season of the Hulu series, followed by Mason McWhorter, from July 2025 to this past February. He is the brother of costar Miranda Hope’s ex-husband, Chase McWhorter.

Taylor told Shetty her split with Mason McWhorter in February was not only what inspired her to explore her sexuality, but a "blessing."

“I went through a breakup at the beginning of this year, and I feel like for just a long period of my life, I was constantly living my life for other people,” she said in the podcast. “I think honestly that breakup was like a blessing in disguise because I feel like now I’ve been fully able to just focus on Layla.”

One day after the podcast went live, Taylor posted a video on June 30, lip-syncing to a popular audio with the caption, “Signs were out but I was not.” Then last Friday, she posted a video dancing to the song Dance If You Gay Bruce, that she captioned: “‘She’s going to make it her whole personality’ here’s another post just to rage bait ppl hehe and after being closeted my whole life…yes yes I will 🙂↕️🤍”

As The Advocate reported in 2023, bisexual people are the most populous of the LGBTQ+ community, making up more than 50 percent of those who identify as LGBTQ+. But those who identify as bi can face intense stigma and questions over their sexuality in ways that gay men or lesbians might not.
