These Parents Threw the Coming Out Party We Secretly Wish We'd Had
For many of us, coming out is rough. Whether our parents support us or not, just trying to figure out whether or not coming out is right for you, when to come out, and how to get the words out is often so totally overwhelming.
So we were moved to tears by what these parents did.
“My family threw me a surprise pride party bc I came out to all of them lmaoooo 😂🌈”— kinsey (@kinsey) 1467482234
The young teenager, Kinsey, received a major surprise when she came out to her family. Not only were they cool with it, but they were excited for her. When it comes down to it, it’s hard not to cry and also laugh out loud at Kinsey’s reaction. I mean, that vegan rainbow cake is not playing around.

Kinsey was also nothing short of shocked when the tweets went viral, but came to realize that when it comes to Pride, we queer folks don’t mess around.
“@NayaCutYoNails the power of the gays is all too real”— kinsey (@kinsey) 1467482234
Happy coming out to Kinsey, and to everyone who’s made the move from the closet, whether that means coming out to your parents, your bestie, or even just to yourself. While coming out isn’t always the answer for everyone, we’re always happy to support when someone does make the decision to be open about their sexuality or gender identity.
We also hope that this trending moment helps the parents of LGBT and queer kids realize that it's their job to support their loved ones, not the other way around. After all, like we said, coming out can really take a toll in a number of ways, and support is completely and totally necessary.
So we’re celebrating. And most definitely eyeing that rainbow cake.
