It's her birthday, she'll shout that she's gay if she wants to.

In the best way to celebrate a birthday known to humans, YouTube star Alexis G. Zall kicked off her yearly b-day video by offering up a few tips to those of us in need of some birthday wisdom. She confessed that she had an up-and-down year as a 17-year-old, got bigger boobs, and became more comfortable with herself.

Oh, and she also decided to come out as gay.

This adorably hilarious human messed around for a second, announcing that it’s about to “get gay” before taking a pause and getting all too real. “It is totally okay to be a girl who likes girls or a boy who likes boys and me personally, I am a girl who likes girls.”

Her pal appeared on video and together they cheered the best kind of cheer: “Gay! Gay! Gay! Gay! Gay!”

It seems silly, but even today it’s a *huge* deal when a YouTuber makes the decision to come out. With everyone who does, we gain visibility. A new pocket of people may have their minds changed, while a new group of queer folks may be validated by seeing that the person they watch every week came out as gay.

Plus, Zall’s coming out was totally chill. It was funny, and relaxed, and thought she seemed a bit nervous she announced her sexuality with a smile instead of tears. This is super important in a society that, despite being more progressive than it once was (TG for that), still expects coming out to be a gruesome process. Just as majorly important is the fact that she had a supportive friend with her in the video. Like, hell yeah.

Also worth noting is that Zall says she wouldn’t completely rule out ever dating dudes, it’s just that she knows for sure that she likes girls. Yay for recognition of sexual fluidity!
