Harry Styles poked fun at fans who question his sexuality with a playful kiss with another man.
While hosting Saturday Night Live on March 14, the “Watermelon Sugar” singer addressed the queerbaiting rumors that have plagued him for years by leaning into the claim and kissing cast member Ben Marshall on the lips.
Styles addressed the queerbaiting accusations during his opening monologue, where he said that in the past “people seemed to pay a lot of attention to the clothes I was wearing and some people accused me of something called ‘queerbaiting.’”
He then joked about the title of his new album, Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally, which he admitted came from ChatGPT.
“Sometimes, kissing can be great, if you’re really good at it, and you’re a good person. Or if you have a tight little bum,” said Styles as Marshall, showed up on stage. “Hi Ben. What are you doing up here?”
Marshall responded: “Well, you said tight little bum... so where’s my kiss?”
After they share a quick kiss, Styles turned to the camera and said, “Now that’s queerbaiting,” before winking.
While some found the kiss sexy, Styles kissing another man might not have had the desired effect as it sparked more queerbaiting accusations on social media.
“Harry's crown as the top queerbaiter was slipping so he had to take matters into his own hand,” one person posted on X.
Another person pointed out that Styles “becomes gay" every time he drops an album or goes on tour, but then goes back to “being the straight man that he is” as soon as it’s over.
Someone else defined queerbaiting and then wrote, “Yep, that’s Harry Styles!”
Although other people pointed out that just because he hasn’t publicly dated someone of the same sex doesn’t mean we know anything about his sexuality.
This wasn't the first time Marshall has done something like this on SNL. He also kissed Challengers star Josh O'Connell when he hosted the show late last year.
