Are you ready for more Jennifer's Body?
Director Karyn Kusama, who helmed the original 2009 film, revealed to Deadline this week that screenwriter Diablo Cody is currently writing a sequel to the beloved queer horror classic.
"I know she's working on it right now, and I'm very excited to hear what comes of it," Kusama said. "I know some of the bones of it, so I'm not going to give anything away, but it sounds fun and crazy like the first film."
Of course, we hope stars Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried will return for the sequel, but we've also been thinking about who should play the next generation of high schoolers who get possessed and murdered.
Here are seven queer actors we think would be perfect for a Jennifer's Body sequel!
Hunter Schafer
Euphoria star Hunter Schafer established herself as a potential new scream queen in 2024's thrilling Cuckoo, and we'd love to see her explore the genre further. We could definitely see her as Needy's niece who is now in high school and must face off against sexy demons just like her aunt did!
Auli'i Cravalho
Who should be the new demon-possessed "it girl"? How about Mean Girls star Auliʻi Cravalho? Between her roles in the remake of Tina Fey's beloved 2004 film and 2022's Crush, she's shown how well she plays a high school outsider, and we'd love to see what she can do if she goes full villain!
Josie Totah
In shows like Saved by the Bell and The Buccaneers, Totah plays some of our favorite young women on screen, and she'd add a great sense of comedy to the sequel. Can't you just hear her bringing to life Diablo Cody's dialogue with a expertly sarcastic tone?
Joe Locke
In the original film, Kyle Gallner and Johnny Simmons starred as some of Jennifer's targets. Heartstopper's Joe Locke would be perfect as a cute Gen Z boy who is eaten by a succubus.
Devery Jacobs
We've loved Reservation Dogs star Devery Jacobs in everything we've seen her in, and watching her in a Jennifer's Body sequel would surely be the same. She'd be ideal for putting a new spin on Adam Brody's character from the original: a musician trying to make a deal with the devil.
Aliyah's Interlude
Pansexual rapper Aliyah's Interlude cracks us up every time she appears as a high schooler on FX's English Teacher, and her deadpan delivery would be perfect for the kind of snarky one-liners Cody is famous for!
Jonathan Bailey
Of course, every high school movie needs a hot teacher! Wicked star Jonathan Bailey would make the ultimate crush-worthy history instructor in his slutty little glasses. Too bad he would definitely get eaten!
