Dominic Albano's Polaroids explore the sultry side of queer male portraiture

What began as documentation for the Dominic Albano Collection gradually evolved into its own body of work. Shot on Polaroid, the images capture intimate moments that sit somewhere between fashion imagery and fine art.

The series draws inspiration from queer photographers whose work helped shape an earlier visual language of male sensuality and portraiture. Throughout the project, Albano references figures like Tom Bianchi and Robert Mapplethorpe, while also nodding to the striking compositions of Helmut Newton.

“I came into fashion from an imagery perspective,” Albano tells Out. “Queer photographers—particularly from another time—inspire me far more than the act of making clothes itself.”
