For many queer folks, Disneyland and Disney World have offered a safe place to get away for a day from the struggles they face in everyday life. The mantra in the parks has largely been one of inclusiveness. Step into any merch shop and you will be greeted with rainbow-themed and gay honeymoon items, readily available. 
There are heavily attended and beloved Gay Days, Pride Nites and Clarabelle Cow has become a true gay icon. While Disney’s track record on queer representation is, um, spotty, the parks have proven to be a refuge.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show is getting a new release for its 50th anniversary, bringing back a very important question — is Dr. Frank-N-Furter now officially a Disney Princess??
When Disney purchased 20th Century Fox back in 2019, endless jokes were made about whether or not all the characters we loved from movies under the Fox umbrella acquired an honorary royal title as part of the deal. And there’s a case to be made that no one is more deserving than the iconic "sweet transvestite" from Transylvania himself, played by Tim Curry.

Ethel Cain and Pedro Pascal are the latest celebs to throw their support behind Rachel Zegler amidst her continued scapegoating for the underperformance of Disney’s live action version of Snow White.
Zegler has been drawing backlash for Snow White ever since her casting was first announced back in 2021. At the time, the complaints largely revolved around racism — with "skin as white as snow," the character should be played by a Caucasian person, her detractors insisted.

After President Donald Trump and his administration took a wrecking ball to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, Disney is falling in line by adjusting content warnings before old movies and scaling back their DEI strategy.
Disney first added content warnings to older films like Dumbo and The Aristocats back in 2019 due to racist and culturally insensitive depictions present in Disney films from the ‘40s and ‘50s. In light of Disney scaling back its DEI efforts, the company is also changing the disclaimer that autoplays before their streaming movie.
