Evan Rachel Wood's Twitter-View on Being Bisexual, Tequila with Ellen Page, and Crushes
Evan Rachel Wood's TwitterView On Bisexuality, Tequila with Ellen Page, and Crushes

The True Blood and Mildred Pierce star talks about her crush on Milla Jovovich, coming out as bisexual, and drinking tequila with Ellen Page.
Evan Rachel Wood, just back from the set of a new movie (you can see some sneak peeks on her Tumblr), sat down (or was on the go — who knows when you're on Twitter!) for a chat about her coming out as bisexual in 2012, and her upcoming performance with Milla Jovovich at a fundraising event called "An Evening With Women" for the LA Gay and Lesbian Center on May 10.
Midway through, as is often the case with chatting in this public way, others joined in the conversation — including TV host and chef Ted Allen, and Wood's best friend from middle school.
@evanrachelwood good morning!

good morning! :)@matbreen
— Evan Rachel Wood (@evanrachelwood) April 27, 2014
@evanrachelwood but you've been busy (and game for this) so we planned it in advance. so I'm happy we could do this
— Matthew Breen (@matbreen) April 27, 2014
@evanrachelwood Been watching u on Twitter, esp in conversation with @EllenPage and your chats are sort of awesome.
— Matthew Breen (@matbreen) April 27, 2014
@evanrachelwood I want to know more about the love=tequila messaging
— Matthew Breen (@matbreen) April 27, 2014
haha. @EllenPage and I will be playing sisters in a film called "into the forest" this year. So we have been spending a lot of-- @matbreen
— Evan Rachel Wood (@evanrachelwood) April 27, 2014
--time together and she has become one of my closest friends. We also enjoy a sip of tequila every now and then ;) @matbreen
— Evan Rachel Wood (@evanrachelwood) April 27, 2014
@evanrachelwood yeah, looking forward 2 that movie. i know a few of us would like watching the occasionally sip of tequila between you 2 too
— Matthew Breen (@matbreen) April 27, 2014
Super responsibly! @matbreen
— Evan Rachel Wood (@evanrachelwood) April 27, 2014
@evanrachelwood naturally! when did you finish shooting that film?
— Matthew Breen (@matbreen) April 27, 2014
We havent started yet. Very soon though. @matbreen
— Evan Rachel Wood (@evanrachelwood) April 27, 2014
@evanrachelwood ah! so you became pals in advance of shooting?
— Matthew Breen (@matbreen) April 27, 2014
yea. When you get to really bond with a cool person for a role its one of the best parts of the job @matbreen
— Evan Rachel Wood (@evanrachelwood) April 27, 2014
@evanrachelwood you came out as bi in 2012 on Twitter, and she came out recently at a youth event. did you know she was going to do that?
— Matthew Breen (@matbreen) April 27, 2014
I did know. And I was extremely proud. @matbreen
— Evan Rachel Wood (@evanrachelwood) April 27, 2014
@evanrachelwood your coming out seemed so casual, but I read you were nervous.
— Matthew Breen (@matbreen) April 27, 2014
nothing compared 2 when I tried 2 come out 2 my mother when I was 12. I was so scared and cried so hard I never got the words out @matbreen
— Evan Rachel Wood (@evanrachelwood) April 27, 2014
You weren't able to tell her then? Does that mean she didn't know until later? @evanrachelwood
— Matthew Breen (@matbreen) April 27, 2014
But I came out to "esquire" magazine first and it was just such a weight lifted. @matbreen
— Evan Rachel Wood (@evanrachelwood) April 27, 2014
i told her years later. Before I came out publicly. @matbreen
— Evan Rachel Wood (@evanrachelwood) April 27, 2014
@evanrachelwood was there a precipitating event? something that made it necessary for you to do at that time? (Esq. was before Twitter?)
— Matthew Breen (@matbreen) April 27, 2014
esquire was before twitter. And I did it because its a huge part of who I am. I wanted people to really know me. I also wanted -- @matbreen
— Evan Rachel Wood (@evanrachelwood) April 27, 2014
@evanrachelwood I think it's vital. Do you think bisexual invisibility would diminish if more people who are bi (so many are!) were open?
— Matthew Breen (@matbreen) April 27, 2014
And I didnt want to feel like I had to hide the women in my life. @matbreen
— Evan Rachel Wood (@evanrachelwood) April 27, 2014
So many are! This is true. I have certainly felt shamed from both sides for identifying that way. People like things--@matbreen
— Evan Rachel Wood (@evanrachelwood) April 27, 2014
-- black and white. Its less scary. Grey areas make people uneasy. @matbreen
— Evan Rachel Wood (@evanrachelwood) April 27, 2014
@evanrachelwood We dig your husband @1jamiebell. U were shooting a film last week and he's shooting @TurnAMC. Do you ever see each other?
— Matthew Breen (@matbreen) April 27, 2014
But the pain and fear and confusion are just as real as any other sexuality and you are not alone. @matbreen
— Evan Rachel Wood (@evanrachelwood) April 27, 2014
Yes. It is hard with our schedules and the baby. But it makes the time we have that much more precious and special @matbreen @1jamiebell
— Evan Rachel Wood (@evanrachelwood) April 27, 2014
@evanrachelwood @1jamiebell congrats to you both on baby boy! he's 8 months old? 9 months?
— Matthew Breen (@matbreen) April 27, 2014
Almost 9! Cant believe it. matbreen @1jamiebell
— Evan Rachel Wood (@evanrachelwood) April 27, 2014
@evanrachelwood @matbreen I never knew about that, I'm sorry I was so caught up in my family shit at the time, I wish I could have helped u.
— Amber Rollo (@ambercrollo) April 27, 2014

@evanrachelwood can't let you go without asking about your singing! YOu've sung in "Across the Universe" and "Mildred Pierce"...

— Matthew Breen (@matbreen) April 27, 2014

— Matthew Breen (@matbreen) April 27, 2014
Thank you! I will be singing again at "an evening with women" to raise money for the women and girls that the @LAGayCenter serves.@matbreen
— Evan Rachel Wood (@evanrachelwood) April 27, 2014

— Evan Rachel Wood (@evanrachelwood) April 27, 2014

— Matthew Breen (@matbreen) April 27, 2014

— Evan Rachel Wood (@evanrachelwood) April 27, 2014
