Unisexier T-shirts for the Fashion Forward Tomboy: Introducing Mogwai Club

Wrap up in one of these "infant quality" cotton tees today!

What’s up Tomboys! I am dubbing today’s t-shirt collection the most unisexy (that’s right, unisexy) line of shirts that are so on point with expanding your t-shirt needs and without breaking the bank. I am thrilled to introduce tomboy inspired t-shirt makers, Mogwai Club.

Sigur Ros T-shirt

Each Mogwai Club tee is individualized one at a time, silk-screened by the artist and the founder in Los Angeles, California or their Bangkok, Thailand studio. A small sister and brother operation, they hand paint each shirt with a spoon as needed.  With a spoon!  As needed! With each wash the silkscreen softens into the t-shirt improving the look and wearability over time.

The Smiths T-shirt

When I stumbled upon Teddee Phinpathya selling t-shirts last week, she was under a tent among the bustling crowd at the Melrose Trading Post Fairfax location in Los Angeles, CA. Donning a newsboy cap and boy shorts, I was immediately drawn in to see what this tomboy was up to. Hanging behind her and around the tent were t-shirts with un-ribbed necklines and un-ribbed sleeves that needed no introduction thanks to the prominently featured band names and rock stars (like old friends, really) and the pronounced quality that is put into each and every shirt. It was a tomboy icon party up in there.

Patti Smith Dream of Life T-shirt

According to their Etsy site, “These shirts are super light-weight and made with one of the highest grade of 100% cotton available, an infant quality cotton, giving you that ultra-comfortable feel. Ethically made and screened with high quality and eco-friendly non-toxic water based inks that will soften with each was and without fading into oblivion.”

I want to put a quick emphasis on “infant quality” cotton. I felt these shirts and they were soft enough to swaddle Jesus Christ himself. If you find yourself babysitting or something (any baby, not just Jesus), and that baby is naked or whatever for whatever reason (because you are a bad babysitter I don’t know), this shirt will actually help improve the situation and save the day.

This shirt is not available yet in major retailers, they sell mostly in underground markets and on their Etsy site. And at $20.00 a pop I feel like this is such a steal of a situation.  I hope you agree! Leave some love for Teddee and tell her SheWired sent you. I’m actually fixna order some myself.
