6 Reasons Queer Americans NEED to Watch The Great British Bake Off
If the gorgeous sweets don't do it for you, all the talk of "baps" and "firm buns" on BBC's reality cooking show The Great British Bake Off should surely get your attention. Here's a list of reasons why LGBT people this side of the pond should partake in this fabulous series!
1. Sue and Mel
These two women are TV's best couple. Sue is an out lesbian and has the best dad jokes television has ever seen. Mel and Sue have wonderful chemistry and have known one another for over 27 years.
2. The Villain
Paul Hollywood is incredibly charming for a judge. The celebrity chef is very talented, and he's also quite the Daddy Bear. The food will leave you hungry, but Paul will leave you thirsty!
3. The Diversity
So many different kinds of people are contestants. From stay-at-home dads to anesthesiologists, the show is packed with many lovely, and sometimes queer, personalities.
4. The Sweetness
Watching an episode of The Great British Bake Off will probably result in breaking your diet, but aside from the gorgeous baked goods, the contestants are just as sweet and awesome. The drama on this show is not comparable to what we are used to seeing in America, and people hold themselves accountable and have a very "better luck next time" attitude when things don't play out in their favor.
5. Mary Berry
Working alongside Paul, Mary is a judge who also has an extensive baking background. She is so lovely and can teach us all a thing or two about manners and proper etiquette!
6. Every climax leaves you on the edge of your seat.
Who thought watching people create marvelous baked goods could be so riveting and exciting?!
