A Black History Moment: Remembering Our Ancestors

Welcome to Black History Month and I invite you all to celebrate with me women of  the African Diaspora. As the progeny of the African Diaspora many of us pause in the month of February to  pay homage to our ancestors who survived the horrors of the Trans- Atlantic Slave Trade.  We pay homage to our ancestors by remembering the Yoruba proverb  that states, "If we stand tall it is because we stand on the backs of those who came before us."

Welcome to Black History Month and I invite you all to celebrate with me women of  the African Diaspora. Each day this month I will offer a bit of history.

Our ancestors have taught us it matters not who stands against us because all that we ever need to be, to do,  and to know is  available to us  in their  teachings.

They  have taught us  how to make it on the broken pieces, and they have taught us how to  make  " a way out of no way."  They have taught us we must lift as we climb, and they have taught us that  we must always see our work in relationship to one another.

These  teachings we must not forgot!

As the beneficiary of a rich legacy I  invite you all to journey  with us women of the African Diaspora  for the month of February as we celebrate our ancestors and each.
