        Kamala Harris Declares Victory: Reconfirms She Will Not Defend Prop 8, Video
    California Attorney General Kamala Harris has said before she would not defend Proposition 8 in court, and Tuesday, after nearly one month of vote tallying, she confirmed it in her victory speech. This is good news for lesbians and gays seeking to marry in California, as her opponent Steve Cooley had promised to defend Prop 8.

“It is simply unconstitutional,” Harris said, garnering whoops, hollers and rousing applause.
