It didn’t take long for angry conservatives to start lashing out at the idea of Lil Nas having anything to do with the group, which has been making music for kids for three decades.

The reasoning behind the criticisms usually has to do with the “Old Town Road” singer creating music videos with sexual and “satanic” imagery, which doesn’t really hold up. People who make music and films aimed at an adult audience have frequently collaborated with children’s entertainers over the years — have these people even seen Sesame Street?

A Lil Nas X/Wiggles collaboration would almost certainly mean the former joining in on whatever the latter have going on, not working together on a song for kids to rival the dark erotic energy of “MONTERO.”

Lil Nas himself all but pointed that out when he finally responded to one piece of the criticism on Friday.

“Lil Nas X has put human blood into 666 pairs of his design for nike shoes and is now planning to collaborate with The wiggles,” someone wrote on Twitter, to which the rapper simply responded: “what’s the problem.”

And that’s the only response that this kind of bad faith argument should be greeted with, full stop. What’s the problem? There isn’t one.
