Britney Spears and Sam Asghari’s romance has come to an end.

Yesterday, Asghari filed legal paperwork to begin the divorce, ending the couple’s 14-month marriage. According to TMZ, the fitness instructor turned actor cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the divorce and is seeking spousal support and for Spears to pay his legal fees.

While shocking, there had been rumors of issues in the relationship for months. However, Us Weekly reported in June that the two were “determined to make their marriage work,” according to its sources.

The two reportedly came to an impasse when discussing starting a family together. “Britney really wants kids in the near future, but Sam isn’t so sure,” an insider told Us. Spears was ready to start having a family as soon as possible, said the source, while Asghari felt like his life was already full and wasn’t in a rush.

Last May, Spears and Asghari shared that two had suffered a miscarriage. “It is with our deepest sadness that we have to announce that we have lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy. This is a devastating time for any parent,” read the joint statement. “Perhaps we should have waited to announce until we were further along, however, we were overly excited to share the good news. Our love for each other is our strength. We will continue trying to expand our beautiful family. We are grateful for all of your support. We kindly ask for privacy during this difficult moment.”

Now that the two are going their separate ways, Asghari is seeking spousal support. Spears reportedly has an ironclad prenup that states Asghari will get “$1 million per every two years” of their marriage with a cap at $10 million after 15 years, according to Us.

According to Page Six Asghari is looking to renegotiate the prenup. A source told the publication on Wednesday that he is “attempting to negotiate concessions beyond his prenup and threatening to go public with extraordinarily embarrassing information about Britney unless he gets paid.”

Since the news broke, Spears has returned to social media to add a life update — but not the one you might expect. “Buying a horse soon !!! So many options it’s kinda hard !!!” Spears wrote in the caption alongside a photo of her riding a horse on the beach. “A horse called Sophie and another called Roar ??? I can’t make up my mind !!! Should I join the camaraderie and put a pink cowboy hat on ??? Either way I think I found my sweet spot with Roar !!!”
