‘Red, White & Royal Blue’ Actors Dish On Filming Steamy Sex Scenes

Actors Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez are dishing about what to expect in their upcoming movie Red, White & Royal Blue, and by the sounds of things, we’re in for a steamy adventure!

The film, inspired by the 2019 book of the same name, centers around Alex Claremont-Diaz, the first son of the United States under the country’s first female president (played by Uma Thurman), and his romantic relationship with Prince Harry, a British prince.

Chatting with GQ, the actors discussed everything from the auditioning process and how their characters compare to the book they’re based on to what it was like filming intimate scenes with someone you consider a close friend.

“There’s so much choreography to sex…ual scenes,” said Zakhar Perez, adding, “Our guards were down during the rehearsals, but one of us would say something stupid like, Get off me!” as soon as someone yelled “Cut!”

“It’s a crazy thing to be intimate like that with your friend,” said Galitzine. “And we want people to fall in love with these characters, because their love has to be real.”

To help fight the awkwardness of being surrounded by other cast and crew, the actors would whisper jokes to each other to try and lighten the mood and add some laughter to the situation.

“There’s a playful teasing that never veered into anything nasty, which was a lovely dynamic to be a part of,” said the film’s intimacy coordinator, Robbie Taylor Hunt. “But also they just treated each other like colleagues and co-creatives in a really nice, collaborative way.”

Red, White & Royal Blue is slated to debut on Amazon Prime Video on August 11.
