Despite the recent cancellation of LGBTQ+ series like A League of Their Own, Amazon Studios is beginning production on a new queer story.

The studio has secured the rights to Aaron Foley's debut novel Boys Come First. "Thanks to everyone for believing in this very Black, very gay, very Detroit story," he celebrated on Twitter. "Let’s make history."

Foley is a Detroit native and the senior editor at the PBS News Hour. The novel came out last year, in May of 2022.

According to Deadline, "Boys Come First tells the humorously heartfelt story of three gay millennial Black men looking for love, navigating friendships and pursuing professional success against the rapidly evolving backdrop of contemporary Detroit."

Chuck Hayward, who has written on Ted Lasson, Dear White People, and Wandavision, will write the show and is in talks to be the showrunner.
