An exciting new LGBTQ+ show is coming to Netflix!
Adam Silvera’s novel They Both Die at the End has been picked up by Netflix to be adapted into a television series. According to Deadline, as many as five networks and streaming services battled it out to acquire the rights for this TV show, but Netflix emerged victorious.
Attached to the project are none other than Bad Bunny, Bridgerton creator Chris Van Dusen, and Yellowjackets producer Drew Comins. Netflix is partnering with Entertainment One (eOne) for this TV series adaptation of They Both Die at the End given that eOne had acquired the rights for the novel back in 2021.
It is still to learn to know further details about the show given that it’s just been greenlit, but Netflix has already committed to a script-to-series treatment according to the report.
They Both Die at the End is centered around two teenage boys, Mateo and Rufus, bonding together after suddenly finding out that they only have one day left to live. Though the novel was released in 2017, it rose to prominence in 2020 due to its new popularity on TikTok’s #BookTok.
In 2022, Silvera released a prequel novel titled The First to Die at the End. However, it’s still unclear whether the TV show will cover the prequel’s storyline as well.
We can’t wait to learn more about this show and watch it on Netflix once it comes out!
