2018 has been a rough year so far, and unfortunately, the romances of some of our fave queer couples didn't last. But just because some couples called it quits, doesn't mean there aren't other happy gay couples out there! 

Here are 4 breakups (and an engagement!) that made the first half of 2018 one huge emotional rollercoaster.

Christian Siriano & Brad Walsh

After two years of marriage and 11 years of being in a relationship, the out fashion designer and Project Runway winner decided to split from his husband Brad Walsh in June of 2018. 

"Bit more than a month ago my husband and I separated," Siriano wrote in an Instagram Story post, according to E! News. "I was contacted by a writer for a website who somehow found out, so rather than let them break it, I'm telling you myself. It's nobody's business and I don't want to discuss, but that's what's up."

Daniel Franzese & Joseph Bradley Phillips

Mean Girls and Looking star Daniel Franzese announced on social media that he had called off his engagement with ex-fiancé Joseph Bradley Phillips in late June of 2018. 

"Sometimes shooting stars shine so brightly that they burn out and now we must go separate ways but I hope my path always crosses with his," he wrote in an emotional Facebook post. "Joseph Bradley Phillips and I have decided to part ways, break our engagement promise and continue on into the future as friends. We cared so much for each other that we ignored things that were important to our individual personal growth. We have taken some time to heal before letting everyone know and I’m grateful to all my friends and family who have shown us support during this time. I’m excited to see what Joseph will offer the world and I can’t wait to get back on tour and make people laugh."

Sam Smith & Brandon Flynn

The "Too Good At Goodbyes" singer and the 13 Reasons Why actor broke off their relationship in June of 2018 after nine months of dating. 

According to an inside source from UK news publication The Sun, "Sam and Brandon had a real whirlwind romance. They really fell for each other. But they are both so busy with their careers and unfortunately things just haven’t worked out."

"Sam is obviously devastated," the unnamed source added. "This is the most significant relationship he has ever had. Thankfully he is on tour across the US at the moment which has been a welcome distraction."

Colton Haynes & Jeff Leatham

After six months of marriage, out Teen Wolf and Arrow star Colton Haynes filed for divorce from husband and celebrity florist Jeff Leatham in May of 2018.

Before their split, Haynes and Leatham were planning on having kids together. The news of their breakup came on the heels of Haynes releasing a song called "Man It Sucks," although he has taken to Twitter to deny fan accusations of the song being about him.

Karamo Brown & Ian Jordan

This year hasn't been bad to all celebrity gay couples! Queer Eye's Karamo Brown got engaged in May of 2018 to longtime partner Ian Jordan! We can't wait for them to get married!
