Zac Efron and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson star in the new Baywatch movie reboot, and the trailers have been...steamy, to say the least.

Johnson plays a seasoned lifeguard who clashes with Efron, the cocky new recruit to the Baywatch team. After they uncover a criminal scheme threatening to take over the beach, the two realize they must put their differences aside and work together. At one point the duo go deep undercover, and we see The Rock dressed as a chef and Efron in strappy heels and a very formfitting dress.

No doubt, 2025 has provided us with plenty to be scared about. But it also, thankfully, gave us ample opportunities to exorcise those fears through the safety of cinematic horror.
So with that in mind, here is the best of the best in ascending order. From queer folk horror to sapphic antiheroes to obsessed kidnappers, these queer movies chilled, thrilled, and tingled my spine the most this year.

While the list is much shorter than we would hope—and we’d love to see that change—what these movies lack in quantity, they more than make up for in quality.

And perhaps no film this year delivers on those feelings better than Bryan Fuller’s debut feature film, Dust Bunny, a brilliant and lush kaleidoscope of color, bizarrely wonderful characters, and one giant killer bunny. It’s films like this for which the theatrical experience was created.
To paraphrase a famed meme, Dust Bunny is absolute cinema.
