The First Trailer for Mapplethorpe Has Arrived
And it looks queerer than a unicorn riding off into the sunset on a rainbow.
The new trailer for Mapplethorpe looks queer AF (as it damn well should be!), especially after considering Bohemian Rhapsody’s watered-down portrayal of Freddie Mercury's sexuality, we as viewers demand a more explicit portrayal of queerness.
And Matt Smith will be doing just that in his role as iconic gay photographer Robert Mapplethorpe. Smith has come a long way since playing the 11th incarnation of Doctor Who, and while we’re not in the business of promoting straight actors playing queer roles, from the preview, it seems as if Smith does the legendary photographer justice.

The film's limited-release in theaters starts March 1, 2019.
