Logan Paul Calls 'Going Gay' Comment a 'Poor Choice of Words'

Paul previously claimed he was going to "go gay" for the month of March.

YouTuber Logan Paul is seemingly walking back his recent comment saying he was going to “go gay” for a month.

In an episode of his podcast earlier this week, Paul started a conversation about New Year’s resolutions with his co-host, Mike Majlak. The two discussed how they were going sober and vegan for January, then calling February “Fatal February,” and claiming they were going to do the opposite for that month — “steak, big bottle’s of Tito’s and shit.”

Paul then threw in: “And then March — take a guess. What is it? ‘Male-Only March.’ So it’s ‘Male-Only March,’ we’re gonna attempt to go gay for just one month.”

While it’s unclear whether the sentiment was sincere or just a stupid joke, the comments drew a lot of backlash from the queer community and its allies for suggesting "going gay" is just something you can turn on and off on a whim.

Now, the YouTuber has supposedly seen the error of his ways.

After GLAAD retweeted an article about his insensitive comments, saying “That’s not how it works, @LoganPaul,” Paul retweeted them and said “very poor choice of words… my fault. let’s get together and talk about it on my podcast next week?”

For someone without the history Paul has, that might be taken as an actual attempt to open a discussion about why his comments were in poor taste.

But when someone has repeatedly used shock and outrage to gain views (and therefore, money), it’s hard not to be cynical about their intent.

In fact, it seems pretty likely he’s just hoping to turn this into an opportunity to draw more people to his podcast — especially considering his tweet wasn’t actually an apology for what he said, but more an offhand remark from someone who's learned the hard way that it's best to respond swiftly when the world is angry at you.

But hey, at least he didn’t show off any dead bodies this time.

The bar is so low.
