Washington State University is defending its decision to allow medical providers to use courses from the Society for Evidence-Based Gender Medicine to fulfill requirements for maintaining licensure.

The Society for Evidence-Based Gender Medicine (SEGM), a Southern Poverty Law Center-designated hate group, received the green light to teach medical professionals through Washington State University’s continuing medical education (CME) program — meaning medical providers may now use SEGM courses to fulfill requirements to maintain their licensure.
Critics argue the move by WSU gives the appearance of legitimacy to a group with opaque funding and a disturbing proximity to far-right, Christian fundamentalist forces. It also means well-meaning providers who want to enhance their practice with trans-competent care may be misdirected to SEGM propaganda instead of evidence-based best practices. Most damning, critics say, is that listing SEGM as a CME option lends undue legitimacy to a dangerous cell of what the Southern Poverty Law Center has dubbed an anti-trans pseudoscience network.

JayCee Cooper, a trans woman banned from women's powerlifting contests, has won her case at the Minnesota Supreme Court.

The Minnesota Supreme Court has ruled that USA Powerlifting discriminated against a transgender woman by banning her from women's competitions.
The court determined in an opinion issued Wednesday that preventing JayCee Cooper from competing in women's categories constitutes unlawful discrimination under the Minnesota Human Rights Act. Chief Justice Natalie Hudson wrote that USAPL is "not permitted to deny Cooper the full and equal enjoyment of its place of public accommodation because of her transgender status nor engage in business discrimination as to Cooper because of her transgender status."

The fiery legal battle between music mogul David Geffen and his estranged husband, David Armstrong (a.k.a. Donovan Michaels), continues. This week, the new development came in the form of legal documents obtained by TMZ, in which Armstrong accused Geffen of hiding his finances to subvert California's financial disclosure laws, "in an effort to achieve aggressive spousal support limitations,” the court documents report, per TMZ.
Back in May, Geffen filed for divorce from Armstrong, citing "irreconcilable differences," and the couple did not sign a prenuptial agreement. Not too long after the split, the husband requested spousal support from the billionaire, who owns multiple record labels and is a co-founder of DreamWorks Animation alongside Steven Spielberg and Jeffrey Katzenberg.
